Silence: a small step in the therapy process
September 13, 2025 3:00 pmAvailable
Duration: 90 minutes
Host/Presenter: Jocelyn Jacks Kahn
“The upcoming gathering I will be facilitating is inspired by a class I recently attended: Beatrice Blake’s “A Fresh Look at Gendlin’s Small Steps.” Her series of six classes is based on Gendlin’s article, “”The Small Steps of the Therapy Process: How They Come and How to Help Them Come.” In this particular class, the small step being discussed was silence.
So – what is it about silence? Obviously, it has something to do with not talking. And of course there is much more, particularly through the lens of Wholebody Focusing… We will have a brief discussion and a 10- or 15-minute attunement based on this theme of silence from a Wholebody Focusing point of view. We will then go into breakout rooms, paying particular attention to the role of silence in our Focusing dyads. When we come back from our partnerships we will explore together what has come for us.”
