Available
During the Thanksgiving weekend for our Focusing friends in the United States, we could be in Grounded Presence exploring some recurrent, kind of “always” or so often there “Background Feeling” – as Eugene Gendlin used to call it.
In this Thanksgiving special environment, we could explore which kind of Space could be available or not for it. Could we be with “it”, breathe or move with it? Allowing us to be open to whatever needs to come (or not) around it…Even thanking it?
For some people, an interesting way to be with the Background Feeling is to invite yourself to draw your felt sense about it, using art material to express it, through shape, colours, etc. Doing so could allow something new to emerge, a new felt experience to arise…
You may then let your body, well grounded, be moved by some inner-directed movements, while holding (or not) the drawing and evoking the Background Feeling.
A gentle invitation could be offered to the body to be holding both the Grounded Presence and the Background Feeling, letting what needs to emerge to come as it is.
In the breakout time, participants will be invited to pay attention to whatever comes for them after listening and experiencing the earlier guided invitations, and to share with their partners what they feel would like to be shared.
